{in the nude}

I've been loving neutrals this summer (it's nice to take a break from neons and brights every now and then). Thankfully, one of m favorite drugstore brands, Maybelline, hit the nail on the head with their Spring 2014 Limited Edition Dare to Go Nude Collection.

I picked up two of the 24 Hour Color Tattoo's and one Color Show nail polish from the collection and all 3 products are now permanent residents in my everyday makeup bag.

I've always heard amazing things about the 24 Hour Color Tattoo's by Maybelline, and when I saw the gorgeous Dare to Go Nude display at my local Walgreens, I must admit I was drawn to the beautiful model's bronz-y, shimmer-y, glowing look (a'la J-Lo) like a moth to a flame. Round of applause for their marketing team, please! I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the 2 colors that stood out the most. One with warmer undertones, #100 Caramel Corn, and the other with cooler undertones, #95 Sleek & Spice. Both are lovely all over the lid on their own, underneath other powder eye shadows as a base, or even layered on top of each other in certain areas to create a unique coppery/gunmetal color. The light catches these shades beautifully and they give my lids a slight shimmer without looking oily or too sparkly.

Another major plus is that they stay put until you're ready to take them off.

Five (or 6) Step Smokey Eye:

Step 1: Don't prime your eyes because you won't be needing that with these babies! ;)

Step 2: Sweep the Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo over your lid, up to the crease, using your fingers to warm up the product for easier application. (work quickly because once they set, they don't move)

Step 3: Add your favorite matte brown eye shadow to your crease and blend everything out.

Step 4: Smudge a black soft kohl eyeliner along the outer half of your lash line.

Step 5: Apply mascara.

(optional) Step 6: For a bit more drama, run the Color Tattoo shade along the entire bottom lash line and finish with a bit of black kohl liner just on the outside corner of the bottom lashes.

The selection of Color Show nail polishes was probably my favorite part of the Dare to Go Nude display. Wearing nude nail polish elongates your fingers a bit (which helps with my short little ones) and pretty much keeps your hands looking fresh and, a-hem, polished! Not to mention, nude nail polish hides chips and growth quite majestically. Perfect for those of us who don't have their next 4 manicure appointments already booked.

The color I decided on was #753 Bare Beige, because it seemed to match my skin tone best (yes, it felt like I was picking out a foundation rather than a nail polish at one point).

It's easy to apply and easy to remove (nothing worse than a polish that takes 45 minutes to remove and leaves your fingers stained). Sadly, I can't comment accurately on it's staying power because I don't use a base or top coat. Like, ever!

I've since been on the hunt for more products from Maybelline's Dare to Go Nude collection, since I always fall in love with the products that are limited edition, of course! Found that resorting to Amazon or Ebay has been my best bet.

Before I go, thought I'd share a naked face selfie to keep the theme going here:
