{#FRIGHTFEMMES} 2018 - Vol. 1

After a few years of hiatus, the #FrightFemmes Halloween collab with Caro from Blonde2Brunette blog is back up and running for 2018! If you're a little confused, check out the intro post about this series from its original conception back in 2015! Wow, time really freakin’ flies!

LIFE has basically has been happening a million miles a minute, so I wasn’t able to participate in the past few years of #FrightFemmes… but Caro definitely has done a great job of keeping the series alive.

Go to BLONDE2BRUNETTE blog to check out all their previous post for tons more Halloween related content!

In a nutshell, the #FrightFemmes series is an ode to our love for all things halloween, but especially, Halloween MAKEUP & costuming.

This time around, we will be posting several makeup looks (on the blogs and on our instagrams) throughout October, leading up to our final Halloween party looks at the very end of the month! We’ll have everything from glam, to gore, to whimsy, to classic, pretty much a slice of inspiration for everyone!

TBH this is pretty much a big excuse for us to get into our makeup kits and PLAY! It’s a fun creative outlet and hopefully a source of inspo for all you halloween-loving folk as well! If you join in on the fun, be sure to post your looks on insta and use the hashtag #FrightFemmes :)

GET THE LOOK:

  • Start off with your regular foundation/base + powder - I chose to go with a lighter version to pale my skin out a bit.

  • Pop on some strong/bold brows to prep for the heavier eye shadows coming up.

  • Next create a smokey brown eye with a slightly cut crease and and wing out the shadow. Add black liquid liner to make the eyes pop even more!

  • Use a variety of browns, oranges, and earthy tone eyeshadows to create a carved cheekbone and blend downwards so it creates a gradient into the rest of the face/foundation.

  • Add a brownish/rust color lip and blend it out towards the face.

  • The last step is to take a liquid liner and add the line details above the brown, under the eyes, and on the lips/mouth area.

  • For the costume: I made this headpiece out of REAL leaves that I found in my backyard (lol) but if you plan on wearing it all night, the craft store has tons of leaves you can buy in bulk and make a headpiece by hot glueing them onto a stretchy black headband or even a piece of ribbon that you can tie behind your head. Wear anything you want, I’d go with black and rusty/brown colors.
